This project involved a suite renovation in the existing hospital to accommodate a new PET/CT with an associated control room, equipment room, hot lab, and uptake rooms.
Electrical Design |
The electrical design included investigating circuits available for re-use in existing panelboards to provide power to the new imaging equipment, dedicated exhaust systems, and medical gas equipment. Specialty lighting features throughout the project included continuity of linear light fixtures across horizontal and vertical surfaces, recessed linear fixtures, cove lights, and RGBW tape light.
Plumbing Design |
For this renovation, the existing domestic water, sanitary, and vent systems were modified to serve plumbing fixtures throughout the imaging suite. Additionally, a new oxygen supply line was designed as an added alternative to serving the PET/CT room and holding area, along with dedicated zone valve boxes and a new area alarm panel, but this system was omitted in lieu of point-of-use sources.
Mechanical Design |
The mechanical design for this project consisted of reconfiguring the existing packaged rooftop VAV system to accommodate a new PET/CT and support space on the first floor of a 4-story medical office building. The existing hot water VAV terminal boxes were relocated and reconfigured, with a few new VAV boxes being provided to serve the air loads of the space. A new dedicated exhaust system was included in the design to maintain negative air pressure in the lab, preparing radiotracers for PET scans.
